At April 10th 2023, The Owner PT. Inalum group and SAMI group attend the first reduction cell start-up ceremony. It’s a one of the significant milestone for PT. Inalum reduction upgrading EPC project.

In the ceremony, Mr. Huang Fei, the SAMI general manager and Mr. Danny, the PT.Inalum Chairman delivered congratulatory speeches successively. Huang Fei pointed out that this is an important milestone in the stage, but also a new starting point for the next stage of work, SAMI, as the EPC general contractor, will work closely with the consortium and complete the upgrading of 170 235kA electrolytic cells in 8 districts as soon as possible. After that, Huang Fei visited the representatives of the subcontractors and equipment suppliers involved in the project, hoping that all parties can consolidate cooperation, develop steadily, enhance friendship and mutual trust, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win situation.

PT.Inalum(Inalum) is only state-owned engaged in aluminum smelting in Indonesia. Until now, Inalum has two hydropower plants and an aluminium plant with a capacity of 270kt/a in North Sumatra. The plant now has three reduction series, each consisting of 170 reduction cells. Inalum applied its existing reduction cells with SAMI’s advanced aluminum reduction technology. After the upgrading, the production capacity will reach more than 300kt/a. The project belongs to Indonesia's national strategic project and is a priority development project of Indonesia's Ministry of State-owned Enterprises.
