PT Borneo Alumina Indonesia (“PT BAI”), a state owned enterprise focusing on alumina industry in Indonesia, intends to build an alumina refinery with a capacity of 1,000KTPA and expandable to 2,000KTPA(“Project”) inMempawah in Pontianak County, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. PT BAIintends to engage a well-known engineering company with rich experience in alumina industryto conductengineering, equipment supply, manufacturing, construction, installation and commissioning of the alumina refinery.
Through fierce competition and tough negotiation, CHALIECO wontheEPC contractwith SAMI’ssupportas alumina technology provider and engineering contractor. On November 11, 2019, PT BAIsignedEarly Work Letter Agreement (“EWLA”) with CHALIECO, initiatingbasic design and some detailed design work. On January11,2020,PT BAI signed EPC contract with the Consortium of CHALIECO andPT PP (an Indonesian company for some civil work).This project is another oversea EPC project won by CHALIECO and SAMI.
